Focused on Partnering with Eye Doctors

EyeQue collaborates with eye doctors to deepen engagement with their patients. With our unique at-home solutions, doctors help patients update their prescription between appointments, track treatment effectiveness against a specific condition, and monitor patient progress after a procedure.

EyeQue helps eye doctors adopt telemedicine to grow their practice and supports consumer interest in self-care. We help people find eye doctors through our partnership with EyecareLive, a national eyecare telemedicine referral service.

In 2015, our founders John Serri and Tibor Laczay discovered an MIT patented technology that could theoretically create a smartphone-powered refraction test rivaling traditional room-sized ophthalmic refractometers. Realizing the global impact of such technological advancements, they set out to develop optical smartphone attachments and mobile applications that empower people anywhere to test their own vision and take part in their own vision correction. Steven Nielsen, renowned patent attorney who supported EyeQue’s ongoing intellectual property expansion, joined the board in 2019. Tibor passed away in November 2021.

    EyeQue is on a global mission to elevate eye care. Headquartered in Newark, CA, EyeQue inspires consumers to learn about and care for their eyes by putting affordable, accurate vision tests directly into their hands through the sale of novel ophthalmic devices. Based on revolutionary patented technology, EyeQue brings self-administered eye tests to U.S. consumers and potentially billions of people around the world, many of whom do not have the opportunity to test their eyes and correct their vision without access to this low cost, convenient solution. EyeQue products have earned 5 Innovation Award at CES and other notable technology and business awards.

    EyeQue is looking for a talented leader to create and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy, serving as Chief Business Development Officer. The ideal candidate will lead all aspects of the sales and marketing and work closely with the CEO and other key members of the EyeQue Management team.


    • Market Maker, Product Marketer, Sales Champion, and Brand Ambassador to lead all sales efforts.
    • Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals
    • Lead the company marketing and sales efforts based on a long-term strategy / plan
    • Play a key role in M&A and fund-raising activities
    • Create a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.
    • Grow EyeQue’s adoption; drive consumer interest, promote EyeQue at trade associations including CES, Vision Expo, ARVO, CE Week, Maker Faire, PepCom, and other public events.
    • Develop sales channels globally and establish market entry to ECPs (Eye Care Providers) and directly to consumers.
    • Work with the EyeQue executive team to drive product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to maximize long-term market share.
    • Build up the sales team to deliver growth and adoption of the EyeQue technology.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
    • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.
    • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction.
    • Implement and maintain global channel sales strategy and forecast sales and set performance goals accordingly.
    • Prepare periodic reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed customer acquisition expansion.
    • Review and analyze sales performances against programs and quotas to determine effectiveness.
    • Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
    • Work closely with the marketing and operational functions to establish successful support, channel and partnership programs.
    • Manage and grow key B2B and B2B2C relationships and close strategic opportunities.



    • Prior executive C level experience in a mid-stage start-up company.
    • Bachelor’s degree with major in Business; MBA is a plus.
    • Knowledge of Ophthalmology or Optometry is a plus
    • Experience with Selling Medical devices, and knowledge of the regulatory landscape.
    • Prior sales or business development experience in an enterprise with demonstrated growth in sales due to their leadership.
    • Proven track record of successfully executing sales plans and achieving organizational sales targets.
    • Demonstrated success and more than 10 years of experience marketing consumer products, in the optical, health, and / or fitness device or service sectors
    • Enthusiasm and curiosity in IoT, digital health, AI, and SaaS.
    • 10+ years of related partner program experience, with a track record of implementing effective distributorship and reseller programs.
    • Must be willing to “roll-up the sleeves” while developing strategic growth plans and negotiating distributorship, reseller, and affiliate agreements.
    • Excellent public speaking, presentation, and writing skills; strong business acumen, leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
    • Successful track record in building up and maintaining a sales force.
    • Experience in acquiring VC or Private Equity investments is a plus.
    • Enthusiasm in leading a world-class team innovating the next big thing in personal health and fitness.
    • Flexibility for domestic and international travel up to 30% of the time.
