But before you can place an online order for your glasses, you’ll need to take a measurement called pupillary distance (also known as PD) to help the manufacturer craft your eyeglasses. There are a few ways to measure your pupillary distance. You can use a pupilometer at the eye doctor, a ruler, a pair of glasses, or you can use a pupillary distance app.
Pupillary distance is the distance between the center of your pupils. This tells the manufacturer how to center your lenses properly.
Some people try to measure their pupillary distance using a ruler, but it’s difficult to take this measurement without accidentally looking at the ruler from an angle or tilting the ruler against your face.
